Cafec have innovated the world’s first coffee filter papers for specific coffee types to give you an even greater control over your manual filter coffee.

The original Cafec filter paper is a big leap in progress from others available in the market due to its  double-sided crepe and fine texture; allowing water to flow with more stability and speed.  The new range of Roasting Level Filter Papers go even further to control the brewing process and create a more nuanced flavour profile for different roasting levels.  Do you want to know how they work and how to choose the best filter paper for your favourite coffee beans? Light Roast

If you enjoy a lightly roasted coffee, the chances are you like floral, bright and clean tasting coffee.  Lightly roasting coffee is a prized method for bringing out more vibrant, unique flavour out of high-quality coffees. So you want a filter paper that works with these characteristics.

The Cafec Light Roast Filters have no crepe on the inside, creating a small, fine surface area which catches tiny coffee particles, holding them back from the final cup.  This finely filtered coffee gives a clean cup with bright flavours and lots of aroma.  Perfect for people who enjoy a lighter roasted coffee.

The Elida Geisha Panama is a great coffee to try out with the light roast filter papers.

Medium-Dark Roast

For those who like a well-rounded coffee with richness and medium acidity, a medium roast is perfect. Roasting coffee for that little bit longer leads to more sweetness being introduced so a medium roast coffee is a great mid-ground for all coffee lovers and a great starting point for those just dipping into specialty coffee.

Cafec Medium-Dark filter papers are slightly thicker, but less dense than the light-roast papers; meaning the water flow is kept smooth and constant, right to the last drop.  Crepe on both sides of the paper gives a greater surface area which means that even fine coffee particles do not inhibit water and air flow around the dripper.  These create a balanced, well-rounded cup of coffee.

Dark Roast

If you like a darkly roasted coffee; you’re probably a fan of big, bold flavours.  A dark roast is perfect for creating chocolatey, nutty and molasses flavours with a rich, smooth finish.

The Cafec Dark Roast Filters are the most technically brilliant of all. Designed to regulate the water flow from start to finish of the brewing process to make the most of the big, deep flavours of dark-roast coffee.  This paper has 2-sided crepe to aid water and air flow, but the surface area on the inside is much lower than the medium filters.  This means that fine coffee particles eventually build up, slowing down the flow of water during the last phase of brewing, effectively applying the brakes to the water flow. The first fast, and later slow water flow finish up the coffee with body and sweetness.

La Lia Micromill is a great coffee to try with the Cafec dark roast filter papers.
